Our Story
It all began with a man and his beer. In 1990, David Tindol bought a drive-thru beer store in Uvalde, Texas. Before long, loyal patrons developed a thirst for more, because nothing quenches your thirst on a hot Texas day quite like a frozen daiquiri to go. While drive-thru daiquiris had been done before in Texas, they were typically made with cheap wine that detracted from the flavor of the cocktail. So David set out to find the perfect neutral alcohol—that was still legally classified as a wine—for making frozen drinks. Through a painstaking process of trial and tasting, the potions were perfected, and in 1998, Specialty Blends was born.
Why liquor alternatives?
Wine-based liquor alternatives allow businesses and venues to serve real cocktails without a mixed beverage permit, opening new revenue opportunities and avoiding the 14% tax. Specialty Blends proudly produces an extensive line of spirit alternatives, allowing you to craft any cocktail imaginable. If you can dream it, you can drink it. And you can legally serve it with only a wine and beer permit.
